Mr. Oscar Griffin, age 89 of Burns, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 until 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Griffin will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Hiett and Bro. James Hinkle officiating. Interment will follow in the Bon Aqua Church of Christ Cemetery.
A native of Cheatham County, Oscar was the son of the late McKinley and Alene Oakley Griffin. He was a retired assembly line worker for an automotive parts manufacturer. He was a member of Burns Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Moss Griffin, Burns; one son, Larry Griffin, Burns; one daughter, Linda Gail (Billy R.) Tidwell, Lyles, TN; brothers, Floyd Griffin and McKinley Griffin, Jr., both of the Petway Community, and Ernest Griffin of Washington; sisters, Mattie Tidwell, Bon Aqua, Dimple Welch, North Carolina, and Novella Markle, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Marty Griffin, Angie Donaldson, Cory Tidwell, and Anthony Tidwell; great-grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Justin, Andrew, Madison, and Darby Ruth; great-great grandchildren, Elijah, Kobe, and Kamiah; several nieces and nephews.
