A graveside funeral service for Bettye Stone Merideth, age 79 of Dickson will be held at Union Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 with Bro.      Born in the Stayton community of Dickson County, Bettye was the daughter of the late Robert Bowers and Inez Harbison Stone.  As a child, she accompanied her mother, who was a nurse and highly-valued midwife, on many house-calls at “all hours of the night” to deliver babies and minister to the mother’s needs.  A graduate of Dickson High School, she was married to Dr. David Wyly Merideth who predeceased her in 1991.  She worked as office manager in her husband’s dental practice and later as an evening receptionist and visitation hostess at Taylor Funeral Home.  Bettye loved to travel and was especially proud of several mission trips with her friends at Walnut St. Church of Christ and a pleasure trip with several friends to Ireland.  She was fond of Irish tenors, especially Daniel O’Donnell.  AND she was a die-hard Georgia Bulldog fan. "Go Dawgs!"  Bettye was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.  Her brother, Robert Bowers “Sonny” Stone, Jr. also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two nephews, Mike Stone (Carol) and Jerry Stone (Vickie); great-nieces and great-nephew, Lindsey Stone, Brett Stone, and Stacey Stone; several cousins and friends; and a long-time special friend, Deborah Jones of Burns.
