Vondlee “Vonda” McGriff, age 87, of Dickson, passed from this life on January 5, 2024, at Dickson Health and Rehab. She was born on September 9, 1936, in Cullman, Alabama to the late Roxie and Bonnie Hornsby Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons: Ronnie McGriff and Joey McGriff; her brothers: Edward Smith and Ben Smith; and her sisters: Lissie McClendon, Velma Todd, Thelma Todd, and Elizabeth Burns.
Survivors include her daughters: Nancy Kelley (Robert) of Tarabora, NC and Rayella Dudley of Dickson; her son: Donnie E. McGriff (Barbara) of Eclectic, AL; her daughter-in-law: Jean McGriff of Millbrook, Alabama; her brother: JD Smith (Sue) and James Smith, both of Cullman, AL; her grandchildren: Alicia Carpenter (Lance) of Dickson, Monica Owsley (Randy) of Lyles, Kara Kelley and Macayla Kelley, both of Tarabora, NC, Donnie McGriff, Jr. of Smith Station, AL, and Amber McGriff of Eclectic, AL.; and 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ms. McGriff’s wishes were to be cremated. Her family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
