Mr. Blue departed this life on Nov. 19, 2014 at St.Thomas West after a brief stay. Lifelong resident of Dickson County, he was the son of the late Richard Blue Sr. and Doy Reddon Blue. He retired after 39 years with Ford Glass Plant in Nashville as a committeeman for the United Auto Workers Local 737 (UAW). Leading efforts to improve economic climate, social justice and livelihood of the community he loved dearly. Once Robert met you, he never forgot you and he made it hard for you to forget him. Ever the persuader---he was known for his humor, effervescent smile and "never take no" for an answer attitude. He was honored and saluted by numerous organizations and groups, Robert was perhaps the proudest of his efforts to help the local NAACP in its efforts to advance opportunities for its minority citizens.

If greatness is determined by how much a person impacts other people's lives for good---then the definition of a Great Man was personified by the life of Robert Blue. A man of faith who always put God and his family first, especially his bride of 54 years, Laura who he affectionately called "his sweetie". He was a lifelong member of the St. James A.M.E. Church in Dickson and attended the Bowman Chapel United Methodist Church of Dickson.
